Gratitude

  • Craft with the kids went great and was nice to have all my kids in the same house at the same time.
  • Even though we had a raging storm, the power never went out and no damage to the house.

Yesterday recap

Before the house got moving I did all my home maintenance chores. I got the outdoor furniture put away before the wind picked up, which as good because it got fukkin wimdy. I collected all the rechargeable batteries in the house and got them filled. I even got my beard trimmed and while doing so realized that a good 70% of it is gray now.

My oldest came by after lunch with their fiance to hang for a few hours, do some Halloween crafts, and have some snacks. Everyone had a great time, especially my wife and our two youngest. I appreciate every day I get.

Let’s talk a little about being a dad. Since my oldest moved out it has been hard on everyone. Everyone handles it differently, but it hit my wife the hardest. Its hard to have a child that lives away, I think about them every day but only see them once a month or so. But, I can’t show how hard it is on me because everyone else is dealing with it, too. I can’t add my sorrow, there’s already enough around. I need to be strong for everyone else. I need to be the person that carries them when they need it, which is a lot. There is no time when others can carry me, so I can’t put them in that situation. I just need to carry it at the same time I help carry other people. This is the life of a dad. Strong. Resolute. Supportive. Compassionate. Empathetic. But, never expect these things in return.

After, we sat down to watch the Lucha Libre AAA Héroes Inmortales but discovered it is a Mexico only show. The last 5 or so events have been broadcasted on YouTube, but this one was exclusively live in Mexico. Later that night we learned it was delayed broadcast to YouTube, so we are going to watch it today.

After dinner and putting the kids to bed my wife and I had snacks and watched Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. We ended up going to bed earlier than normal.

How are you feeling today?

Stressed. I woke up early (5:30AM) thinking about money. We are strapped for money and going into the slow season for work, which also means the business is strapped for cash. I also manage my mom’s rental property, which needs repairs and have to figure out how to pay for them.

Todo

Chores

  • Normal Sunday stuff. Spend today prepping for the week including charging devices, filling pet food dispensers, loading up my truck, laundry, filling my task list and reviewing my calendar, etc.
  • Vehicle maintenace checks on the truck and the van.

Fun

  • Carve our pumpkins.
  • Watch AAA Héroes Inmortales.
  • Watch some NFL with my son.

Projects

  • See if I can get the existing home directory encrypted on the Panasonic laptop. I want to carry it, but not have to reinstall the OS to encrypt /home. I’m gonna see if I use this guide to pull it off.
