About
The short answer is I’m an irrigation and landscape contractor based in the South Puget Sound.
The long answer:
In early adulthood I worked in landscaping and was convinced that the real way for me to earn money was to get into tech. I worked hard and found my way into digital marketing, where I worked for over 10 years. I love Linux, self-hosting, and open source. With this love I was able to find a role being a project manager and digital marketer who could speak with devs and IT so we could all be on the same page.
But, I absolutely hated working in an office. I also hated what digital marketing has done to people’s privacy. I had to get out.
So, after 10 years I left and went back to my roots. I founded a sprinkler contracting business with my brother and work outside all day, every day. And I love it. I got out of the office, stand up meetings, emails at 10PM, and Slack and I never looked back. I love being outside, working with my hands, and being in the dirt. Then, in the evenings and weekends, I get to play with tech as a hobby.
Now that I’ve seen what adtech and digital marketing have done, I am an avid privacy advocate, supporter of open-source, and always fighting for data sovereignty.
