Gratitude

  • Our customers that we did installs for in late winter/early spring were super happy with the systems and had nothing but nice things to say. I was nervous because we hadn’t heard from them.

Yesterday recap

I spent the morning doing business admin stuff, which was good because I was way behind. Got our reports in, paid the truck registration (regardless of how awful the licensing website is), balanced the books, and hit the bank for deposits.

I left the house about 11AM for my winterizations. These two stops are our most remote properties we maintain and neither of them could meet before noon.

I was nervous about these two because we had problems with the initial install. In the end the installs were good, we just hit a lot of roadblocks during construction. I was nervous because after the installs we never heard from these customers all summer. Normally we get little pings, like follow up questions, scheduling help, or repair questions when they inevitabley hit a pipe or a drip hose.

I was nervous for nothing. Both customers, who are avid gardeners, we over the moon happy with the results and said all their plants did great due to the irrigation we installed. We didn’t hear from them because one was in Alaska all summer and the other runs multiple AirBnB rentals on their property and was busy.

I got home late due to the drive time back, so I walked in right before dinner. I’m glad I got these stops done before we roll back the clocks, otherwise I would have been driving in complete darkness on some very rural and winding roads.

While the kids prepped for bed I wrote some notes on my TUI Microsoft Surface project and even posted them here.

In the evening the wife and I had mini flatbread pizzas and watched The Evil Dead 2.

How are you feeling today?

Rested, but in a lot of pain. I have some sort of chronic problem with my lower legs. They hurt so bad all the time. Some days its tolerable, some it is excuciating. This morning has been awful.

Todo

Chores

  • 3 winterizations, but none of them will be home. This is good then I will be left alone to do my job 😄
  • Home early for kids appointments.
  • Stop at Home Depot to get more winterization insulation. I have a busy week next week and need to make up about 30 bags.

Fun

  • Play some Power Wash Simulator. Looking forward to a chill evening of background TV and Nintendo Switch time.

Projects

  • Test m.2 SSD I took out of child no. 3 desktop PC. I had to rebuild this PC to upgrade to Win11 (I know, I wish it was Linux too) so I removed the drive and replaced with a 2.5" SSD. I replaced it because Win10 was complaining about the drive having problems. I need to do a real test and see if it is worth keeping around.
