Yesterday recap

My neice’s birthday party was at lunchtime, so in the morning I kind of just bumbled around the house doing odds and ends. We always have a big breakfast on Saturday mornnings, so wife and I took our time eating and reading the news.

After, I dug through our holiday bins and found the rest of ou Fall/Thanksgiving decor. The main item I was searching for was a cornucopia shaped salt and pepper shakers. Wife loves to collect salt/pepper shakers and these were missing. Luckily I found them, along with a lot of other little decorations for the house.

I looked over my desk and I don’t think I can pull off how I want to setup this E5440 laptop as my primary machine and use the docking station. I like my monitor layout to be stacked up and down and my main monitor isn’t high enough off the desk to pull this off with the laptop underneath. So, I am still brainstorming how I want to layout the desk. I might have to cut a board and install it across the back of the desk.

Went to the party and had a good time. Hung out with fam and saw my neice and nephews. The kids and our gorls had a blast playing and I got to see my sister’s youngest who was born with a heart condition and has already had open heart surgery before turning 1. He is doing fantastic and is almost walking now.

Came home and the gorls went off to play in their room. Wife went to relax and I practiced my magic for the talent show. I think I got a good 4-5 trick repitiore going.

Dinner, get the gorls ready for bed, and then wife and I started watching Ark of the Sun God. We love to watch B-movies and this one is golden. First of all, I love Italian knock-off movies from the 70s and 80s. Its like an Italian producer saw and American movie and thought, “I should make an Italian version of this, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money.”

There is this phenomenal car chase scene in the first half where they clearly didn’t have the budget to blow up real cars. So, they made a fantastic model of a train yard and used model remote controlled cars. Its awesome. Watch it here.

Gratitude

  • Had a nice family party and everyone in my extended family was on their best behavior.

How are you feeling today?

Relaxed. I’m starting to feel the end of my work season and my body is recovering.

Todo

Chores

  • Sunday chores: Pets, laundry, cleaning, charging, organizing for next week.
  • Car maintenance check. The van and the truck are nearing an oil change and I need to check on a few extra things before the freezing weather gets here.
  • Load up my truck for the week. Currently it is setup for winterizations. I need to load up all my new construction bins and tools.

Fun

  • Watch some NFL football with my son.
  • Date night with wife. We decided not to have our date night yesterday and instead go out today and have the boy watch the gorls.

Projects

  • Carry over from yesterday: Try to re-org my desk so I can put this E5440 as the main with the docking station. The main issue I need to solve is getting the primary monitor about 3 inches higher.
