Yesterday recap

It ended up being just a lazy Saturday while I did a few random things around the house.

Wife and I were originally planning to drive into town to go to WinCo. I don’t recommend the van make that far of a drive, so I was going to escort her in my truck. But, we never really coordinated with the boy about what time and by the time we got to 10AM the store would be too busy to be worth going, so we canned the trip. In order for us to do this trip we need to leave at like 6AM. If we do then we will be there early enough to miss the crowds and be back before the gorls wake up. But this also means we need to get my 19 yo son out of bed at 6AM. It might be okay because at that time in the morning he’s probably been in bed for only a couple hours.

We had our normal big breakfast, wife made me chilaquiles.

Late morning I started up the generator and let it run for 25-30 minutes. While it ran I worked on the portable homelab blog. By lunchtime I got it posted.

After I hit publish the boy asked me if I could help him with putting together his monitor stand, which I jumped all over because I wanted to do it earlier this week. It only took about 15 minutes to get everything assembled and the result is fantastic. It cleared up so much of his desk and got his monitor at the right height so his posture at his desk will be better. He complains all the time about his back bothering him and then he sits at his desk like a goblin for hours a day. I tried to do some network testing, but I was escorted out of the room. I’ll have to try another day.

The gorls got busy playing games and other stuff with each other, so I lounged on the couch for the rest of the afternoon. I spent way more time than I want to admit watching someone play American Truck Simulator, driving from Alaska to New York.

Dinner, bed time for the gorls, and then wife and I tried to watch a few movies. Multiple discs from our Blu-Ray collection do not have subtitles. This is awesome to know that I paid money for the physical copies of my favorite movies and I can’t watch them because they are not accessible for me. Cool. Cool cool cool cool.

Gratitude

Multiple people parked in the spot that I cleared by the tree instead of parking like a jackass in front of my house, including some prospective tenants for the house next door. I’m glad I got that done.

How are you feeling today?

Todo

Chores

  • Sunday chores: Laundry, pets, charging devices, organizing for the week. Less organizing for work, more getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Fun

  • Get our xmas tree from the local farm. Since we live in the PNW there are a lot of xmas tree farms that sell in other areas on the West Coast. We go to a semi-local one (about 20 min. away) and cut our own. Everyone has a good time and we aren’t supposed to get much rain today.
  • Watch NFL football with the boy.

Projects

This is normally where I put notes for what tech projects I want to work on. I used to get a lot of joy out of working on computers, like my desktop or building my homelab. Due to nonexistent budget and lack of imagination, I have nothing to put here. It has been a challenge for months to find something I personally find joy in doing. Ya know, those things people call hobbies. I’ve been trying to find something that helps me relax after a hard day or something that makes me happy when I do it. I got nothing. Everything is just work. They are just tasks to be checked off.

I don’t need your feedback here or ideas on what to do. It just is. It just is.
