Yesterday recap

I had a lot of free time on my hands.

After breakfast and the gorls starting school I found the upstairs bathroom toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. This has been fixed a few times, so the wall is getting worn. I had to cut a new board, mount to the wall and paint, then mount the paper holder to the new board. Much sturdier than before, so hopefully people stop wrecking it. I don’t want to know how its happening…

I then got busy with chores around the house, catching up on podcasts and watching a few YouTube videos while working.

After lunch I got distracted trying to save a website from the Wayback Machine. I have had this site saved for a few weeks while brainstorming what to do with it. I finally had an idea that I wanted to download it and the put it into my Kiwix instance. Once I got started it took over the rest of the early-mid afternoon. I won’t go deep on it here since I published a separate blog post about it.

I will say it was nice to be deep in a project again and was fun while I worked on it. I love to work on computers and have plenty around, I am just bereft of ideas. I’m a big fan of the phrase “see one, do one, teach one” so I have expanded the opportunities to “see one”. But, in general it is not working other than a few small projects here and there.

I spoke with the gorls about the in-home streaming and they both said they might use it, but unlikely because they have their own desks. We don’t let them play video games whenever they want, so it’s not like being able to play in other parts of the house would expand their gaming time. So, I’ve skipped that project for now.

It was time for me to cycle the charges on our Ecoflow power stations we have in the bedrooms. Both are looking good and work as intended. We stuck with the two smaller ones to keep specific items on during power outages. I’ve actually been slowly writing little prepper guides here and there and I wrote one about energy. Check it out if you are interested in that sort of thing.

Dinner, gorls bed time, and then started watching Die Hard with a Vengeance. I need to finish off the good trilogy.

How are you feeling today?

Doing okay. I have to work for an hour or so today on a call for a leak investigation. I think it is putting me in a better mood since I get to be outside, even though it is raining.

Gratitude

Very grateful I got 3 hours of uninterrupted project time.

Chores

• Working for a bit today on a leak investigation. It should only take a couple hours, depending on the problem.
• More office stuff for the biz. I need to pay last months sales taxes and do our annual LLC updates.
• Now that I’m carrying the Dell 7490 as my EDC, I need to swap out chargers in a few places, especially on the inverter in the truck.

Fun

• Finish watching Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Projects

I think tomorrow night wife and I are gonna play a video game for our game night, which we haven’t done in a long time. So, I need to get Steam Link installed on the HTPC. I know I said the gorls aren’t interested in game streaming, but I still do have a few instances having it setup would be useful.
