Today’s recap

Finished Dabangg last night and went to bed kind of late for us.

This morning Wife was out the door early for grocery shopping. The food was getting really thin around here, plus we had a party later today, so getting out early was imperative. While she was gone I worked on a few chores and responded to some folks about my vibe coding blog post. The gorls got up and I made them pancakes with vanilla ice cream. Unsupervised dad stuff.

Wife got home and we started getting read for the Royal Rumble. The hype was huge in this house. Once the Rumble came on it was just food and wrestling. In the end the Rumble was “mid” as my 10 year old would say. No surprises, which is what made it predictable, which is boring. There were no real surprises, no good returns (I don’t count Brie Bella returning as interesting), and no good pops from the crowd. Honestly, the crowd was one of the biggest weak points. The stadium was like 3/4 empty and the crowd wasn’t good. If you don’t watch wrestling, how much the crowd gets into it affects the overall show. The wilder the crowd, the wilder the wrestlers get, the better the show.

There are some decent storylines coming out of the Rumble, which is the official kickoff to Wrestlemania. The best thing that happened is Brock Lesnar got eliminated fast and was a complete non-story. Hopefully after Wrestlemania he’s gone.

In between matches I played some WWE 2K24 with my youngest in split screen co-op. We had a blast and I kept accidentally pinning her. I have no idea what I’m doing in the game, so the wins are legit accidents. She thought it was funny. I felt like a big dumb ox not letting my littest gorl win.

After the Rumble the gorls went off on their own and we all just puttered around until dinner. I spent the time to write up notes about how I want to update my VEDC (more below). Wife got me a new truck organizer for Xmas and I’ve been waiting until we got closer to our work season to get it installed and filled.

After dinner the gorls and I played another round of WWE 2K24 in a three-way match. This time I was good and got beat.

Gorls have a stay-up-as-late-as-you-want night, so its gonna be a long one. We will watch Dabangg 2 and just chill until bedtime.

Projects

The main project I worked on was my VEDC.

I wrote up a bunch of notes about what scenarios I’m prepping for and got about 3/4 of my list complete. The one section I didn’t do is preparing for interactions with ICE. Being in landscaping means it is only a matter of time until I have some sort of interaction. The landscaping industry in the US is primarily hispanic. So they will definitely stop me if they do sweeps in our area. Its awful. Not only do I have to plan for it, my wife is hispanic so I’m constantly worried about her when she goes out. Not including I have met and worked with so many amazing hispanic folk over the years in this industry and it breaks my heart to know how much fear they are living in.

I fight for these people as much as I can. I also need to look out for myself and my family.

Now I’m just supposed to continue to live my life like everything is just fine.

Daily gratitude

• Its always great to spend time with my littest gorl. She’s perfect in every way.
• I’m grateful for Steam Remote Play. During our three-way match my youngest and I did split screen while the Rainbow Baby joined via Steam Remote Play Together. Worked flawless and kept it from being all three of us crammed on the same sreen.
• Rumble was a blast and we had a great family party.

Tomorrow’s big thing(s)

The most important thing I have to do tomorrow is a few store trips, which includes restocking our edibles.

Loose thoughts

I’m tired of hearing people say they don’t want smart appliances, that they would even pay extra for “dumb” versions. Where TF are these people shopping? There are tons of options.

The pug is being mopey about wearing a collar. But, she’s also a little jerk and needs identification on her at all times.

While most of the US is having a harsh winter, we haven’t had one at all. Snowpack is 30% of normal. Peeked at the weather and we are gonna have down right nice weather next week. WTF is happening? Its February!
