Today’s recap
Boring days continue!
The only thing on my task list was to sell/transfer my Hyundai Veloster to my SIL. We had planned everything out and it literally took 20 minutes. He is now the official owner of that hunk of junk. I’m kidding. He’s driven it for three years and I never asked him for anything in return. When he moved here he was able to use it to get started in his new home with as few hiccups as possible.
Got home, did some odd stuff around the house and then actually spent some time at my desk.
I checked in with my sister to see how they’re doing. They are in complete lockdown with just a few weeks before the surgery, so I haven’t seen them in a while. So far everything is on schedule.
We have some nice weather right now, so the gorls spent extra time outside.
Dinner and then hung out at the kitchen table. That’s it.
Projects
Two mini projects today. First up, my yazi homie followed up and introduced to me to another plugin. This one is for maximizing the file previewer. While doing this I also configured a plugin for connecting remote files with sshfs, which is rad. Now, from within yazi, I can hit a couple of keys and have my homelab, NAS, or anything in my ssh config mounted.
Next project was to play around with scrcpy. Newer versions of scrcpy can pass a flag that will emulate a second display connected with the --new-display flag. This is super neat because they you can simulate your phone being connected to a display and trigger desktop mode. Well, it would be neat, but I can’t get it to work with any of my devices. Everything just shows a black screen. So I had to put a pin in it. I think this is related to newer versions of Android. All my devices only run Android 12 or older. I need something with Android 16 on it.
Some day.
Daily gratitude
- I’m glad Zak reached out. I always learn something new from him.
- Yazi is awesome.
- I’m extremely grateful the car transfer went smoothly.
Tomorrow’s big thing(s)
New job. We will be doing some upgrades and repair work on a large water feature. We worked on this water feature last year, repairing the upper section.
Loose thoughts
Hey, maybe its totally fine to verify someone is an adult before allowing them to view adult content. Like, maybe if we did things that made the web more accessible to folks, that’s a good thing. I get it, you are worried about privacy. But there has to be trade-offs for certain kinds of activities. Nowadays it sure seems like everyone is steering towards Libertarianism. Maybe you should look at your own beliefs and see if you are in the company of the “don’t tread on me” folks. Pretty well known that Libertarianism has been used by tech bros to advance their mission to never be held accountable for anything, including inappropriate relationships with kids they meet online. So, being fervently against any sort of age verification or making the web safer for vulnerable folks means you have Libertarian beliefs. And that puts you in the tech bro bar. Do you want to be in a tech bro bar? Cause it kinda sounds like you do. And that’s pretty gross.
