Today’s recap

We are cramming to get this job done by the end of the day Wednesday.

Up a little later and started the day already a little tired. Breakfast, hung out with the gorls, hitched the trailer, and went to work. Our goal today was to get the mainline POC (point of connection) finished and install all of the drip tubing. If extra time, we will start doing our final clean-up.

POC was difficult from the beginning since it was in the same trench as a whole bunch of other utilities. Plus, its in the low 40s for temps, so the poly tubing is hard to work with. We used a combination of heat wraps and a small torch to soften the poly tubing to get a tee into the mainline. This was tricky because of all the wires in the same trench and not wanting to damage any of them. Took about an hour, but we got it. I left my brother to finish up the POC.

My son and I worked together on installing the drip tubing. In total we are installing about 700 feet of tubing. We started in the back, which stunk like a bog since some of these plants were in the low areas and its rained recently. Plus, the homeowner is not good about cleaning up after their dog. Fun times. The worst part was the plants. All of them had thorns and I kept getting stuck. Just after lunch we finished up the drip tubing.

Stopped for lunch and then got started on the jobsite clean up. That’s when we got a call from a social worker and a voicemail from an in-patient facility about our dad. He is, and has always been, a hardcore alcoholic. I finally cut ties with him about 8 years ago. My brother and sister disconnected about 4 years ago. I have written many times about how I wish he would just die already. Die and let me move on with my life. I have a sperm donor dad and then this drunk as a step-dad. I wish I could be released from having a father. We tried to call both of the voicemails back, but no answers. So, I guess we will find out tomorrow what is going on. Its either he’s being discharged from some sort of care and family are being notified about hospice. Or, he’s dead and they are trying to notify next of kin. If he’s alive, leave him on the street. If he’s dead, toss him in a ditch.

Got home and prepped for tomorrow. Had dinner and then my mom contacted me. She has a rental property and I manage it for her. We are in the process of replacing the oven and we needed to coordinate how that’s going to go. I have to stop at Lowe’s tomorrow and pick up the oven. I will then coordinate with the tenants when to install.

I also got a notification from our CPA that they need some more info. So, got that done, too. Last, finally scheduled our payroll for March 1.

I am looking forward to an evening to nothing.

Projects

No projects today.

Daily gratitude

  • I got a very nice email saying they have been enjoying this blog. It is something good that happened in a generally shit day.
  • Brought my Jackery so we can use a heating pad on the poly pipe. Worked perfectly.
  • Glad my information isn’t anywhere the hospital or social worker can find to call me. I’m a ghost 😄

Tomorrow’s big thing(s)

Wrap up this job and get paid.

Loose thoughts

I am so, so tired.
