Today’s recap

A semi-work day.

Up, breakfast, morning chores, and then empty my truck. Our work today is to prep for next week, so we need to go to a landscape materials supplier to get rock. We are going to finish that big stream and pond on Monday and need additional rock and flagstone to get it done. I’ve never been to a facility like this, so needed a lot of coaching from my brother. We ended up getting about 2,000lbs/900kg of various rock loaded between our trucks. I then stopped to get some misc. parts and then headed home.

Once home I had to wash that rock since we don’t want a bunch of dirt washing down into the pond once complete. Organized my truck for Monday, cleaned up, and then balanced our biz books. I also had to fix an issue with our contractors license, which is also affecting our tax exempt status. Everything with the state is a huge pain in the ass.

Hung out and then WWE Friday Night Smackdown. About halfway through I snuck out with the littlest gorl and we played some more of The Sims. Bedtime and then Wife and I are going to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 The Movie. We’ve watched a ton of MST3K, but haven’t gone back to the movie in a long, long time. Excited to revisit this.

Projects

No projects today.

Daily gratitude

  • Thankful to work with someone who has done all this stuff before. I know my way around sprinklers and plants. The other stuff, like rock and landsacpe materials, is new to me.
  • Used my VEDC kit today. Had to get out some biz paperwork and I had it all staged, even in plastic sheets so it doesn’t get wet from the rain.
  • People at the landscape materials yard were nice.

Tomorrow’s big thing(s)

Going to a fix it fair with my buddy Mike. It happens to be in my little town, too! So close I’m going to walk to it.

Loose thoughts

I don’t know why I never use them, but I need to use a git tool like Gitui or Lazygit. Admitting that is half the battle.

I want to make a portable drive that will give me my Linux environment on any system. So, a persistent desktop I can boot. But, I also want to be able to use it on BIOS locked systems or even something that has zero internet. Brainstorming a build that gives me my system without having to install anything on the host or have the internet.
