Today’s recap

Woke up in an awful mood.

Breakfast and then out the door for our job. This is a new customer in a neighborhood we work in frequently. The customer is having all kinds of work done to their home including new concrete, which is why we were there. 99/100 concrete contractors do not give a shit about sprinklers and will just pour the concrete right over the top of everything, even without capping off the sprinkler lines. This means that the sprinkler system will run underneath the brand new concrete. We were there to fix what the concrete contractor fucked up.

Side note about concrete contractors. Not only will they pour right over the top of sprinklers, water pipes, and anything else they deem not worthy of their action, they will also not install sleeving anywhere. It boggles my mind they will leave a cutout for a plant at a front door or a garage entry and not put a sleeve under the concrete so other utilities, like sprinkler systems, have an easy access point. We talk to concrete contractors and personally ask them on jobs we are working on together to put in a sleeve… Never do it.

For those that don’t know what I’m talking about, a sleeve is a large diameter empty pipe that is intentionally left under hardscaping (such as concrete) so things like cabling, water pipes, and more can be easily run under the impervious surface. These large diameter pipes are cheap. Like, less than $1/foot.

We moved around a bunch of sprinklers, added a few, and punched under a walkway so we can get water to a plant near the garage door. We wrapped up in plenty of time for me to get to my dentist appointment.

The appointment ended up being exploratory with some x-rays and inspection by the dentist. I need a very large filling. They were able to move around their schedule so I can get the filling on Thursday morning. Yay.

Home, dinner, hung out, bedtime, and then Dark Winds with Wife.

Daily gratitude

• Thankful for our customers in this neighborhood that referred us to this new one.
• Used the GeoRipper a bunch for moving sprinklers at this job. Worked like a fucking champ.
• Very happy the dentist can squeeze me in this week. If it didn’t work out for Thursday, the soonest this office had available was in August!

Tomorrow’s big thing(s)

I have no idea. We have no job lined up for tomorrow and I’m caught up on everything. I guess I’m gonna sit around being a pathetic penniless loser.
