Yesterday recap

Spent the day doing a lot of digging. We are trying to get as much done as possible on this new install before we pull off to get out of the way of the gutter and drainage contractor. I spent most of the day hand trenching a 100 foot section of mainline, installing the mainline, pulling wire through it, and then punching the pipe under a walkway. I then installed the 3 valves that will be on that side of the property and installed all the drip tubing in the garden. At the end of the day I then backfilled the trenchline I hand dug earlier that day. We are in a great spot.

Got home and did the truck switcheroo. On my way home I got enough insulation to hopefully cover the last of the winterizations I have until we close up for the winter.

After hanging out with the fam and having dinner, I researched how much my Chromebook would sell for if I post on eBay or FB Marketplace. I then just went ahead and published it. I’m selling a Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3 with keyboard cover, stylus, rechargable batteries for the stylus, a charging brick with cable all for $150. So, if you’re in the market for like-new Chromebook, hit me up.

I also tested the iPad and magically all my DNS woes have been solved. I don’t know why it suddenly decided to actually follow my local DNS after hours of trying to get it to work previously, but I’ll take it. It is now my dedicated bedside TV watching screen. This is why I decided to go ahead and publish the Chromebook for sale.

Last little tech project I worked on was writing up some notes for a dedicated HTPC in the living room. I want to experiment with Kodi again, this time having a better understanding of how I can get it to sync with Jellyfin and getting a IR remote to work with a SBC/mini PC. Jellyfin is truly awful for captions/subtitles. I have so many problems and I can’t watch anything without them. Maybe Kodi will be better.

Gorls went to bed and wife and I finished watching Edge of Tomorrow. I love that movie and it had been a while since I last saw it. I wish Emily Blunt would make more action movies.

Gratitude

  • The people we are working for are so nice. We installed a system at their previous house and have us back the their new. They remembered a lot about our business and family, etc. I wish we worked for more folks like them.

How are you feeling today?

Mentally doing okay. Physically my GERD is out of control.

Todo

Chores

  • Pull out all the winterization stuff from my truck and put our mini trencher in (along with some pipe) for our 2-day new install we are doing for the rest of the week.
  • Make as many insulation bags as I can so I’m ready for next week.

Fun

  • Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t feel like playing any games and we’ve been watching a lot of movies lately. I should make some time to get a long reading session in.

Projects

  • Give The Boy a hand at mounting his new (to him) monitor at his desk. My BIL gave him a nice monitor for his birthday. BIL upgraded his setup so he gave my son his old, which is a very nice 1080p 144hz 27" monitor. I got my son a desk mount, but I don’t think he’s put it together and just had the monitor resting on his desk with no base or stand.
