Ideas
A page of my big rock ideas for the next 6 months or so. These are things I really, really, want to get done, but will take some serious work to get there.

Probably gonna happen
- Replace my two desktop monitors. Currently I am using an ancient 1600x900 Acer LCD and a portable 1080p monitor.
- I did this! Well, I didn’t do it, my wife did. My wife surprised me with a 27" 1080p 100Hz monitor that is perfect for my desk setup.
- Setup a shop and a gym in the garage.
- Waiting for: Finish emptying out all the junk we’ve accumulated out there and move my desk.
- Desk is out and the gym is assembled. The garage is still full of junk. So, 50% complete.
- Waiting for: Finish emptying out all the junk we’ve accumulated out there and move my desk.
- Pull ethernet into two additional rooms upstairs.
- Waiting for: Creating a plan and committing to where all the junction boxes will be located, plus time. Just too busy lately.
- Create a static site for my retired Miami Vice podcast. I took down the old website as it wasn’t being updated and we’ve been retired for almost 4 years at this point. Need to setup a place for the archive and allow people to download old episodes.
- Waiting for: Figure out how to add a second domain to my reverse proxy.
- Setup a self-hosted XMPP server on my homelab.
- Waiting for: I can’t wrap my head around how to do this. I’d like point it through my reverse proxy for a subdomain and how to punch through CGNAT. Looking for help on this, actually. Reach out on Mastodon if you have some ideas @cinimodev@masto.ctms.me.
Wild, unlikely ideas
- Add a second income to our sprinkler contracting business by creating a new arm for power washing.
- Get an antenna working so we can pickup WWE Friday Night Smackdown on Fox each week. OTA signal is terrible out here, but Fox is the one option I might get working. Lots more research on what antenna I can use to actually get it. I’ve tried a few with no luck.
- Update May 24, 2024: I built a custom antenna and placed it on the roof at the optimal angle and I picked up a single channel (Ion) and nothing else. I’ve tried every option from custom built to off-the-shelf antennas and I’m simply too far away. Giving up on this.
- Restart my vlog. Making this was an intense amount of work and I don’t see having the time to do it in the next year. But, I did enjoy making it.
- Rip out the grass strip on the side of my driveway and replace with shrubs. Its dumb they even installed grass in this 15 ft. x 3 ft. strip. I haven’t done it yet because my HOA is a huge fucking pain in the ass about it.
