New RSS feeds and other small blog updates

I mentioned before I don’t like to write blog posts about updates to my blog. However, I have made some updates I think are worthy of a post. In short, there are now three RSS feeds depending on what you would like to follow from me (thank you), an upvote button, along with some version bumps.

Feeds

First up, the RSS feeds. Previously I had a single feed that was a firehose. You got everything, including pages, posts, and daily journals. I have now made it so you can choose which you would like to follow. The choices are:

• The same firehose.
• Posts only.
• Daily journals only.

All the links to these feeds are here. If you are already subscribed to the main feed and want to keep it, you shouldn’t have to do anything. However, you have options now.

Daily journals

I had stopped doing these in mid-December. I am feeling the urge to start doing them again, I just need to figure out what I want these posts to be. What I was doing before wasn’t working. No plans when I’ll start again, but they will come back sometime in the next few weeks.

I love the little upvote button on Bear blogs and I’ve always wanted to add something similar to my site. In the RSS feeds I follow I saw this post that details a project that does exactly that for Hugo sites. How cool!

For the record, this button does not send me any telemetry. I have no tracking other than going to a page and seeing how many folks click/tapped it. I just think its fun.

Version bumps

I was way behind on updating Hugo and my theme. All got version bumps up to the most recent. Doing these updates now is part of my winter projects to get things out of my way before the start of my busy season. The updates don’t matter much to folks reading this site. But, all part of the same blog update project.
