VEDC item list

Posted on Feb 2, 2026

This is the list of items I keep in my work truck in addition to the tools and parts needed for my job. Since I work remotely, should an event happen I need to make sure I can get home. Additionally, I need to get through workdays with potentially high heat, heavy rain, or dense smoke from nearby seasonal fires.

I also need to prepare for normal daily problems. What if my truck breaks down? What if I’m stranded?

I am planning for:

  • High heat days
  • Freezing temps or rain
  • Smoke and wildfires
  • Truck break down
  • Extended gaps in my schedule. This is still a prep. I need to plan for what to do if I have 3 hours between stops and want to be able to work on the go.

I also need to prep for my personal health.

This is more than taking care of cuts & scrapes. I want to be ready to handle emergencies, general work soreness (get through hard days), and then be able to clean up in case of plans after work, but can’t get home.

The list below is broken up into “zones”. These zones make it easier for me to keep track of where items are and to place them in locations based on how frequently I access them. This means some items could be kept together in logical kits, but I access one or two items frequently and the others are rarely used.
